Kat Keenan
Kat Keenan is a seasoned consultant and trainer with deep expertise in nonprofit administration, leadership development, policy, and program design. She works with a diverse range of clients across the nonprofit and private sectors, helping organizations strengthen their internal capacity, design impactful programs, and grow their reach.
Recognized as a leading voice in child welfare and youth policy, Kat has served as a subject matter expert for the Capacity Building Center for the States. She currently teaches as an Adjunct Faculty member at Boston University’s School of Social Work and Rhode Island College School of Social Work, where she brings real-world insight into the classroom.
Kat has led extensive efforts to turn data and practice-based learning into innovative, scalable solutions. She is the architect of the nationally recognized Works Wonders® program, which helps foster youth build financial capability and workforce readiness. Under her leadership, the program secured a federal grant that supported its development, expansion, and successful replication. Works Wonders® has been honored with several major awards, including the 2018 Innovations in American Government Award from Harvard University’s Ash Center, the National Blueprint Champion for Excellence from the Child Welfare League of America, and the Innovation Award from the Rhode Island Foundation and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island.
Kat holds a Master’s degree in Policy and Planning from Tufts University and a Bachelor’s degree in History from the College of the Holy Cross.
